Chipotle Steak Burrito Bowl

img_1092

Well tonight I decided that I would make some chipotle. Jimmy and I wanted it last night so instead of driving to Bloomington to our closest chipotle I decided to just make it myself. There are many recipes online for chipotles items however they vary a little to a lot depending on which ones you look at. So I used the recipes as a base and made my own recipes for them. It turned out pretty well. I have some good starts to a recipe with a little tweaking can prolly match that of chipotle.  I would suggest this for a great party type food. It has lots of variations for the person to use at their discretion. As far as level of difficulty I would say this is med. Nothing to extraordinary however there are many parts. This was a delicious meal and approved by my wife and Jimmy.

Chilli’s Review

Alrighty so I went to Chilli’s with my wife on Friday night and decided I will give you a little review of what I ate. She got a gift card from work so that kinda helped in the decision on where we would go. We both like Chilli’s and will frequent it often. My wife got the triple dipper meal. You get to choose 3 things off their dipper menu for your meal. I believe it was like 9.99 and it was a lot of food for a normal person. Someone like me might go a little hungry :) .

Death By Reeses Cake

img_0973

So this recipe was shown to me by Jessica Brown. She showed me the website www.thecrepesofwrath.wordpress.com and I knew as soon as I saw this my wife would love it. So I decided to make it yesterday and surprise her when I got home. This thing is so heavy it was unreal. Firstmate was also here for the making and helped me out through the process. This was my first cake from scratch and prolly the hardest part for me was the frosting and getting all the reeses on. It was just messy.

If you have troubles following my blog for this recipe go to www.thecrepesofwrath.wordpress.com and hers was very informative. I will try my best to type it up for you though. Have faith.

BBQ Chicken Lovers Pizza

img_0964

So today I wanted to make my favorite pizza of all time… BBQ Chicken and it was delicous… I found a simple dough recipe on the net and then made my own sauce, meat and such.. Pizza is one of those meals that I could have just about any day of the week. Its just one of those foods that I’m ,as the website says, a professional at eating. I will normally put down one of these size pizzas on my own with no problem. Pretty soon I will get some more reviews of pizza up from my favorite spots. If your wondering right now my fave is prolly Davis Bros in East Peoria. Family Size Sausage w/ extra cheese and banana peppers on the side (2 orders of peppers).

Chicken, Turkey, Bacon Grilled Cheese

delicious sandwich

I have my first post of something I made tonight…

I watched Throwdown w/ Bobby Flay and it inspired me to make  this grilled cheese it was rather simple and makes one large sandwich.

Ingredients :

1lb. Chicken (I used tysons trimed and ready tenders)

1lb. Turkey breast cutlets

1 Brie cheese wedge

1 Package mozzarella cheese slices (you need 12 slices)

1 package of bacon (flavor your choice i choose honey cured)

Texas toast slices

Lets first prepare the cheese and bread. Take your brie wedge and cut off the end and discard. Now you can cut off the thin outer coating or leave it on. The outer case is edible so don’t worry. Lay out your mozzarella slices so that they are easy to get too. Now butter your bread on both sides and lay out with brie cheese on one side and mozz on the other. you want to just get a good covering of the cheese.

Now onto the meat start by throwing the chicken and turkey in a fry pan and brown on med-high heat . When all pieces are browned drain and set and set aside. With a new pan or wash the current one (i washed since i’m cheap and don’t have two.) Cook the bacon on low to med. heat without burning. You want the bacon still a little flimsy not cripsy. Makes for a better sandwich that is. When you get all your bacon done (or you could do the bacon and chicken and turkey at the same time in two pans just watch them closely). With the meat cooled off enough that you can touch them take the chicken and turkey and slice them in half to make them thinner.

So now you got all your meats cooked and ready as well as your bread good to go. take the two pieces of bread and put them on the pan cheese facing up. place chicken on one piece and then turkey on the other piece. Now stack the bacon on both pieces and finally stack the sandwich.

With the sandwich now together cover your pan so that the heat can get to all parts of the sandwich. Leave like this for about 1 minute and then repeat on the other side. You want to do this till you have a nice golden brown color on both sides and you can see that the cheese has been melted.

You are now ready to eat your sandwich. Serve with whatever condiment you would like… maybe some ketchup or maybe you want some mayo on it. I would serve with some chips maybe or maybe a steamed veggy.
